Cortinarius sp aff violaceus, a small group of a subgenus related to Northern Hemisphere C. violaceus. Mycorrhizal with various eucalypts, it grows in small groups, uncommon. Overall violet colour of total fruit body intense, gills darkening to almost black. Cap to 80 mm, convex to flattened, silky to touch. Gills close, spore print rusty brown.
